Farisai Bruce Kambarami is a Los Angeles-based cinematographer and video editor specializing in commercial, narrative, and branded content. Born in Poughkeepsie, New York and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe, his journey into cinematography began with his uncle’s VHS camcorder—an early spark that would shape his career in visual storytelling.

Professional Film Industry Experience

As a Local 600 union member, Farisai’s professional cinematography career launched on Disney’s A Wrinkle In Time, directed by Ava DuVernay and photographed by Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Tobias Schliessler, ASC. Working as a camera loader on this major motion picture provided invaluable experience with high-end cinema cameras and large-scale production workflows.

Since then, Farisai has collaborated with acclaimed cinematographers including Anette Haellmigk and Oscar-winning Claudio Miranda, ASC (Life of Pi), working on numerous film and television productions across various genres.

Commercial Cinematography & Brand Work

As a director of photography, Farisai has lensed numerous short films, music videos, and commercial projects. Most recently, he served as the lead cinematographer for Nike’s EKIN activewear collection, creating dynamic product-focused content that showcases athletic performance and lifestyle branding.

His cinematography style blends technical precision with creative vision, whether shooting narrative films, commercial campaigns, or branded content for major corporations and emerging brands.

Chapman University MFA in Cinematography

Farisai earned his Master of Fine Arts in Cinematography from Chapman University’s prestigious Dodge College of Film and Media Arts in 2013. There, he trained under legendary cinematographers Bill Dill, ASC (Amadeus, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off) and Johnny Jensen, ASC, learning the craft from masters who shaped modern cinema.

This formal education, combined with hands-on experience on professional sets, gives Farisai both the artistic sensibility and technical expertise to tackle any production challenge.
